I thought I would start monthly listing all my favourite bits of each month - starting with November. I know, I know, I'm a bit late with this but better late than never right? I'll try to post the future ones a bit closer to the actual month I'm writing about - but no promises! :p
Avocado on rye bread
My favourite breakfast at the moment! I know I've kind of talked about this before in this post but nowadays I've simplified it a bit - it's just plain old avocado with salt and pepper on rye bread instead of making a proper guacamole. It's partly me being being lazy but also realizing that just avocado on its own is pretty special so I've decided to leave the guacamole for dipping purposes only! I wish it was a Saturday morning again so I could have this now - it's truly yummy!
We went for a mini holiday to Madrid with my boyfriend in the beginning of November and even though the city itself was pretty great, the actual holiday didn't go exactly to plan as on the first night I managed to come down with tonsillitis. :( Luckily doctors in Spain are pretty great and I was back on my feet and feeling almost normal for the last few days of the trip. These pictures were taken on the best moment of the worst day of my holiday - I was feeling quite ill so we didn't want to go out and instead had a cocktail and dinner in the amazing roof top bar of our lovely hotel. Look at that sunset - I really haven't seen such a magnificent sight in a very long while!
I didn't have my good camera with me on the holiday but I might just do a little Madrid post later if the rest of the pictures from my phone are publishable.. Stay tuned!
The weekend after Madrid me and my friend Agnes headed to visit our ex-colleague Alex in Bristol where she is studying for her masters. I've been to Bristol once before and I really really like this city - it's so full of great street art, vintage shops and independent pubs and coffee shops - what's not to love! We weren't very lucky with the weather which you can kind of see in the quality of these pictures and it felt like it was just continuously dark and rainy! We didn't let that get us down though - if anything it made sitting in a cosy pub with a glass of red wine even better. Alex took us to a super lovely pub called the The Christmas Steps which was seriously one of the cutest little pubs I have ever visited. Their food menu also sounded pretty yum-worthy so it's very much possible that I will go back the next time I'm in Bristol..!
The Vineyard, Islington
After a pretty successful afternoon of Christmas shopping me and my friend Sandra decided to reward ourselves with a glass of red in the lovely Vineyard on Upper Street in Islington. Now I love this place in the summer already due to it's lovely little outdoors bit but after seeing it transform into the Christmas period I think I love it even more. Perfect choice for a cosy drink with friends!
Finnish Christmas market
Every year in November the Finnish Church in London throws a Finnish Christmas market in Rotherhithe, South East London. It's a lovely mix of stalls selling Finnish Christmas delicacies, arts & crafts, and, of course, our version of mulled wine, glogi. If it was acceptable (and healthy) I'd be necking this stuff down every day of the year. So delicious!
What did you get up to in November? It's definitely not generally my favourite month of the year what with all the darkness but I think this year it was pretty bearable with all these little trips! Can't wait to see what the rest of December has in store!
