The darkness has really affected me this year, I think, more than before. I guess it's the fact that it's my second year of working in an office, which in turn of course means that I basically only get to enjoy daylight during weekends. And because of that, I place so much pressure on those two days that sometimes it just ends up having the opposite effect and I end up lying in bed until ridiculous o'clock. Does this happen to anyone else? I think I'm gonna invest in one of those SAD lamps - I've heard a lot of good of things about them. I'll report back if I do end up getting one!
We did, in the end, end up in Camberwell but as we didn't really have time on our side I only managed to get a handful of photos which I'm afraid are not very cohesive. Last weekend was the first time I've properly been in the area and I think I definitely want to go back and explore some more - I live so close after all!
There's lots of independent coffee houses and cosy pubs in the area (especially in and around Camberwell Church Street) such as the Pigeon Hole Cafe (so cute!), the pub Camberwell Arms and the lovely Daily Goods for ethically sourced coffee.
We, however, were lured in by the Camberwell Grand Union which is part of a little chain of very quirky and colourful pubs. It was very, very empty when we went on Sunday afternoon, so if you're looking for something a bit livelier it might be a good idea to try some of the pubs on the high street! For us, however, this was just perfect as we (or at least I!) needed some space to calm down and just relax without too much extra noise. They do mulled wine too which, of course, is ALWAYS a plus.
