One thing I’ve grown to love about the blogging and Instagram communities is the fact that everyone is always so helpful – whether it’s about giving advice relating to the actual blogging bit and everything that comes with it, or just general advice such as travel and food tips, there’s always someone willing to share a bit of their knowledge.
Before blogging I used to be so dependent on googling and guide books to find places to eat and drink in, but now whenever I travel somewhere, near or far, there’s usually someone I follow who’s already been there and can give much better suggestions than just a general guide book can (although of course these can be very helpful too!). Seeing as I obviously follow these people for a good reason, the tips I get are usually spot on.
This time, for my Margate trip, the lovely Amanda from Rhyme & Ribbons suggested GB Pizza Co and as soon as I saw their website I knew I was 100 % sold. From the blush pink tiles and neon signs to the fact that one of the reviews called their pizza the best they’d ever had, I knew I had to squeeze in some time for it on my visit. And boy am I happy that I did!
GB Pizza is about a 10 minute walk away from Margate train station and as it’s right by the beach too you really couldn’t ask for a better location! We headed there for lunch as soon as we arrived and asked to be seated outside (they’ve got a few tables out on the street, overlooking the sea) because it was very sunny and we wanted to enjoy all the rays we could get before the weather would inevitably turn on us…
I had – again – the Marinara pizza and, guys, this is definitely the best pizza I have had in AGES. It was so good. I love a really thin and crispy base, and here it definitely was just that. The tomato sauce was beautifully flavourful with big thin slices of garlic and fresh oregano dotted on the top bringing it even more flavour. They also have chilli and garlic oils as condiments on the table if you want to add an extra kick to to your pizza – I drizzled the former on mine and it was the perfect addition to an already tasty sauce.
My friend had the Margate-rita (see what they did there?) pizza with mozzarella cheese and she really loved it too – we both devoured our pizzas to the last bite and didn’t even leave the crusts uneaten – that’s how good it was! So if you’re looking for a good pizza place in Margate, this is most definitely it!
