Small pleasures | June 2018

Exploring London with an old friend

One of my oldest and best friends Jana visited the UK at the beginning of the summer and we had such a lovely time exploring London for a weekend. We went for dinner at Pizza East (I didn’t actually have any pizza so can’t vouch for those but the garlic bread was super delicious!), explored Brixton Market and went shopping in central London. All of these activities were so nice, but the best thing was just having an old friend mixing up with my new world and getting to catch up – more of these, please!

Practising my portrait photography

I’d love to learn how to be better at photographing people, so a little while ago I put a little request to my Facebook friends and luckily got a few replies! One of these replies was my friend Ella who needed more photos of her for a project of hers, so a few weeks ago we headed to South Bank on a sunny evening and shot lots of photos in different locations. I’m quite proud of these, actually, and shooting them as well as editing them was such great practice and I really enjoyed the whole process!

Enjoying the Finnish summer to the fullest

I spent a bit over a week in my native Finland in mid-June and I had the BEST time. The weather was fantastic the whole way through and I got to see a lot of my friends and family as well as really take advantage of all the lovely things the country offers during the summer: walks in the woods, swimming in the sea, having a BBQ… And so much more! I really have such wonderful memories of this trip and I just can’t wait to see everyone again!

Celebrating my birthday – three times…

I’m *such* a sucker for celebrating my birthday (14th June, by the way..!) and this year I had a total of THREE celebrations! First one was my actual birthday when I had brunch with my friend in the morning and spent the rest of the day wandering around sunny Helsinki with Jim: we visited the seaside terrace of Löyly, lied on a beach (and I swam!) and had a lovely pizza dinner at Pontus restaurant.

The other two celebrations were a BBQ, also in Finland, where I got to spend quality time with my friends and family I always miss so much and the third one was here in London last week with my UK friends when we went drinking cocktails to Be At One and danced to Amy Winehouse in The Blues Kitchen. All three were so special in their own way and I’ll definitely cherish the memories forever!
